New Featured Demos & Workshops!
“Golden Acrylics with Valerie Allen: Demonstration & Workshop”
DEMONSTRATION: Saturday, July 11, 3-5pm – FREE—registration required
Discover how acrylics can simulate oil and watercolor, even gouache, yet are infinitely more versatile. Each lecture includes example visuals of materials put to use. Attendees leave the lecture enthusiastic to explore the extensive potential of creativity. Guests will receive free samples of paint!
WORKSHOP: Saturday, July 18th, 10:30am-4:30pm, Member: $80, NM: $100, open to all experience levels, ages 16+
Explore different varieties of paint ranging from the thin ink like consistency of High Flow Acrylics to the luscious thickness of Heavy Body Acrylics. This workshop, suitable for all levels of skill, will take the guess work out of shopping for new paints. You will have a opportunity to test a lot of different products and determine materials that best translate your artistic language. Along the way we will experiment with a range of gels and pastes to prepare surfaces that are tactile and textured. This workshop will highlight a varied range of art materials that include: High Flow Acrylics, Heavy Body Acrylics, Open (slow drying) Acrylics, Fluid Acrylics along with Glass Bead Gel, Fiber Paste, Light Molding Paste and Acrylic Ground for Pastel.
Many of the paints and gels will be provided by instructor. A detailed supply list of materials to purchase before the workshop will be provided at time of registration.
Advance registration required for both demo and workshop; space is limited. Students may bring a bag lunch to workshop; please ask for materials list. 15 student maximum for class.
